FAQ
Q: CAN VOLUNTEERS SERVE BEFORE COMPLETING ALL VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS?
Volunteers are allowed to serve one time in our meal ministry before completing all of the requirements. If interested, email volunteer@lightoflife.org.
Q: WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT TO SERVE AT LIGHT OF LIFE?
Anyone 13 years or older can serve as a volunteer. Anyone 18 years or older can serve as a high impact volunteer.
Q: WHAT ARE VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED TO WEAR WHILE SERVING?
We recommend:
• Blue jeans or cargo pants
• T-shirts or long-sleeved shirts
• Jackets or sweatshirts
• closed-toed shoes like sneakers, tennis shoes or work boots
• Hair is required to be pulled back into a ponytail if serving in meal ministry
Q: IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?
Yes! There are parking lots available at our Voeghtly Street Shelter, Ridge Recovery Place, and Outreach Center directly next to each building. Click HERE for a parking map.
Q: HOW CAN I COMPLETE COURT-ORDERED COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS?
We welcome individuals needing court-ordered or school community service hours, depending on availability and eligibility. Email volunteer@lightoflife.org for more information on court-ordered service.
Q: WHAT IS A HIGH-IMPACT VS. A FOUNDATIONAL VOLUNTEER
High-impact volunteers serve in specialized roles that often require additional training, consistency, or a longer-term commitment. Foundational volunteers support essential day-to-day needs through flexible opportunities like serving meals, sorting donations, or helping at events and make a meaningful difference through practical service. If you’re interested in a high-impact role, email volunteer@lightoflife.org.
