For 68 years, Light of Life has been a place where the hungry, hurting, and homeless in our community could experience hope and healing. We believe that everyone deserves to be met where they are and given the opportunity to heal from past hurts and have hope for a better future.
Today, we share with you an updated mission statement and the relaunch of our brand that expresses this belief: That Light of Life is a place where hope and healing meet.
“Light of Life transforms lives through the love of Christ by providing food, shelter, and hope to men, women, and children experiencing homelessness, poverty, or addiction to restore them as healthy members of our community.”
Our doors are open every day to meet those who are hurting most with a free and nutritious meal and night of safe shelter off the streets of Pittsburgh. But we offer so much more… we show our neighbors in need — men, women, children, families, seniors, veterans — that they are seen and are worthy of God’s healing.
Our long-term recovery programs, alumni programs, and street outreach are helping people to overcome the greatest challenges of their lives: Addiction, past abuse, spiritual brokenness, and homelessness.
Our heart here at Light of Life is to always be evolving and expanding to meet the important needs of those in our community who are often overlooked, invisible, and forgotten.
It is not just Light of Life where hope and healing meet. But the resilient and loving community of Pittsburgh that brings second chances to those in need.
Thank you for your support and the ways you help serve and give hope to the homeless and hurting in our community.
