I am homeless and need emergency shelter.  Can you help me?

  • For men: Yes, we can help!  If you need emergency shelter, please call Allegheny Link at 1-866-730-2368 to take the first step for emergency shelter at Light of Life.  If Light of Life’s emergency shelter is full for the night, Allegheny Link will help connect you to another Pittsburgh resource so you can be safe and sheltered tonight.  If you need access to a telephone to call Allegheny Link, please to stop by Light of Life’s front office located at 10 E. North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

I am a woman who is single and homeless.  Can you help me?

We do have a program for women who are single and homeless.  For more information, please contact one of our Case Managers Michelle at 412-258-6170.  She is more than willing to assist you.

I am a woman who has children and we are homeless.  Can you help me?

We do have a program for women and children who are homeless.  For more information, please contact one of our Case Managers Michelle at 412-258-6170.  She is more than willing to assist you.

I am a man who is homeless and would like to make a change.  Can you help me?

We do have programs for men who are homeless and want make a change.  For more information, please contact our Men’s Program Intake Coordinator Rusty at 412-803-4147.  He is ready to help you.

Do I have to be clean from drugs and alcohol to get into one of your programs?

You cannot be actively using drugs or alcohol while in our programs, so you must be clean or have a willingness to get clean to be considered for intake.

I need food.  Can you help me?

Yes, Light of Life served breakfast and dinner to the public 7 days a week at 10 E. North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.  Below is the meal schedule:

  • Breakfast:
    • Men, 7:30 – a.m. daily
    • Women, 8 – 8:30 a.m. daily
  • Dinner:
    • Men & women, 5 – 6 p.m. daily

If you are not able to make it to Light of Life for meals, please call 412-261-6010 and they will direct you to a food bank in your area.

May I store my belongings in Light of Life’s emergency shelter?

We provide temporary overnight storage in our facilities for our shelter guests.  Every morning all shelter guests must take their personal belongings.  We are not able to store personal belongings during the day time or for anyone who is not a shelter guest.

May I receive mail at Light of Life?

Mail is only received for men who are in one of Light of Life’s programs.  We are not able to accept mail for shelter guests or visitors.

I need furniture.  Can you help me?

We do not have furniture to give, but here are a few Pittsburgh area organizations that may be able to help you get what you need:

I need clothing for me and/or my children.  Can you help me?

Light of Life can provide items such as t-shirts, socks and underwear when they are available.  Please stop by the front office located at 10 E. North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA  15212.  If you have further clothing needs, please ask to speak with a street outreach team member when you come by the Mission.

I need diapers for my children.  Can you help me?

We do not typically have diapers to give, so please call the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank at 412-373-3074 to get the help you need.  You can get more information about the Diaper Bank at http://www.wpadiaperbank.org.  

Since Light of Life is a Christian organization, can I receive help if I’m not a Christian?

Yes.  Although we are an organization that believes Christ is the answer, people of any or no faith can receive services without discrimination.  We are here to help.
