Community Outreach

Food Pantry

We work with community partners all throughout Pittsburgh to provide food items to those in need. The Light of Life food pantry offers anything from pantry items and fresh produce to meat and dairy products to those in need. We receive these food donations from individual donors, small groups, and local businesses in the area. In 2020, the Food Pantry provided over 300,000 meals to those in need.

Outreach Events

Every year, Light of Life hosts outreach events to reach the homeless and hurting community in Pittsburgh.

• Days of Hope—Many guests come to receive a free meal and hear music and inspiring testimonies. They can collect resources, such as hygiene kits, clothing, backpacks for children, and more! In the past, we’ve also offered free haircuts and other services that those in need wouldn’t have access to otherwise.
• Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner Outreaches—Hundreds of men, women, and children who need a place to go for the holidays come to the Mission for these holiday meals. At these outreach meals, we provide coats, winter items, and other resources.
• Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes—Each year, we partner with local organizations to provide a Thanksgiving Dinner Box to thousands of families in the Pittsburgh community. Boxes are filled with a turkey and all the Thanksgiving dinner fixings for them to make at home with their families, including pie! In these boxes, we also provide a Bible and a community resource sheet.
