As a ministry of Jesus Christ, Light of Life will provide a home for the homeless and food for the hungry, and will build disciples for the Kingdom of God among the poor, addicted, abused and needy.
Founded in 1952, the Mission was known as Harbor of Hope Rescue Mission when it served as a refuge for transient men. Eventually, programs were expanded to include women and children. In 1957, it was named Light of Life Rescue Mission; in 1979, the Mission purchased buildings on the North Side where the bulk of its programming is conducted. Light of Life now owns and utilizes three North Side buildings.
