A critical element of Light of Life’s Recovery Program, Education and Employment (E&E), provides comprehensive services to prepare men and women in recovery to achieve life and career goals. The program is designed to help them gain the desire for education, discover and develop their interests and talents and to see education as a key to eradicating poverty from their lives.
Partnering with Bethlehem Haven—a Pittsburgh agency serving homeless women—E&E equips men and women to prepare for rewarding careers that suit their individual gifts and aspirations.
To accomplish this, the program offers practical skill building, tutoring in core subjects, computer applications and library and job seeking resources. Clients also receive instruction through special programs and activities, such as health education, field trips and art therapy. Furthermore, the E&E program utilizes PLATO, an acclaimed educational software tool, to provide learning applications to help clients progress at their own pace.
Whether a man or single mom is working toward earning a GED, entrance to a college or university, or the skills necessary to land employment, he/she receives the instruction and support necessary to do so through Light of Life’s E&E program.
