Organizational Goals

Organizational Transformation

  • Light of Life will be certified as a Best Christian Workplace.

Continuous Growth

  • Rewrite job descriptions for 50% of current positions to emphasize skills and to standardize language of spiritual expectations. The other 50% will be done in the next fiscal year.

Good Neighbor-Valuable Partner

  • We will have 1,000 Facebook and 500 Twitter followers. And, we will develop a plan to evaluate how our new emphasis in social media is providing resources for ministry.
  • We will be serving meals at three new sites on at least a monthly basis.
  • Neighborhood cleanups or some other community service project will continue on at least a monthly basis.

Extraordinary Stewardship

  • Fundraising costs as reported on 990’s will be reduced from 31.3% to 27%
  • We will determine the cost of each service provided.

Thought Leadership

  • We will embrace the conflict we know does exist and will learn to work through it to find peace.
  • We will work through the storming stage of organizational development and into the norming stage where all staff accept the norms of our new culture:
    • We acknowledge that we do have choices and that our choices have consequences — positive and negative.
    • We trust others to speak into our lives to help us understand these choices and their consequences.
      • We will move from rules that lead to compliance to grace-based accountability that leads to personal transformation.
      • We willingly and eagerly look out for the eternal interests of fellow staff members, clients and guests by:
        • Helping each person understand his/her identity in Christ
        • Helping each person to grow in Christ-likeness
        • Becoming personally accountable and holding each other accountable for #1 & #2
        • Being willing to evaluate the choices we make and encouraging others to do the same.

Additional Goal

We will have all necessary approvals for a new facility to meet our needs for more space and will be ready to move forward with a financial feasibility study.
